So I saw this awesome idea on Pinterest (of course), and decided it was something that would help me out a ton! Johnny doesn't nap at all anymore, and Nate will take a nap a couple times a week, but usually stays up. I need that time when they nap to get things done, and have some peace and quiet so I can keep my sanity! So this lady posted this idea, Quiet Bins! Everyday after lunch I put them in separate rooms and give them a bin. The bin has 5-6 items in it, and these are items they don't usually get to play with. Each bin has a couple books, something they can build with, something they can color or draw with, a puzzle, something interesting to touch, and something just for fun. They are all quiet toys, and the coloring items were tricky. I didn't want them coloring on their clothes or the carpet or wall, so I found Wonder Color markers, water pens (awesome!), and magnetic drawing boards! I found most items at the dollar store, or the dollar toy section of Wal-Mart! We have 10 different bins, and I have them marked so they get certain bins are certain days. They won't repeat a bin until 2 weeks later, so the items stay new and exciting for a while! So far it's been great, they have been quiet and entertained for an hour and a half to two hours!
Here's the stash!
An example of one bin. Books are underneath!
Johnny happily playing quietly!
I found this book in the clearance section at Barnes and Noble, I love it! Such a cute book for teaching Johnny how to tell time!
More examples!
These blocks were super cheap at Wal-Mart, and I was able to divide them up into 4 diff bins!
We've also been getting more strict with Nate lately. He's starting to test his limits and see if he's going to get in trouble for things or not. The other night he was in time out, and I shouldn't have given him the attention, but he was being so funny and cute I had to take pics and share them! So, here's a play by play of how Nate spends his 2 min when he's in time out!
First, the angry eyebrows....
Then hiding his face...
Then he alternates between happy and mad versions of peek-a-boo....
And here's Johnny wanting in on the picture action! Love these boys!

Such a great idea! Thanks for sharing! I might try this for Aidan while Calder is asleep, he doesn't nap much any more for me
Great job! It looks like a lot of planning, but well worth it!
