"How I met my spouse"

1. Where did you meet? At Continental Apartments, we both lived there.

2. What was the first thought that went through your head when you met? "This guy's cute...and he's playing a song I like on the guitar."

3. Do you remember what he was wearing? A red and white button up shirt, jeans, and brown shoes.

4. Where was the first time you kissed this person? In his apartment.

5. Where did you go for your first date? Technically to the U2 concert in Salt Lake, but I "wasn't dating" at that time, so after that out to dinner and ice skating, but he doesn't consider that our first date.

6. How long did you know this person before you were a couple? 2-3 months.

7. How did he ask you out? He just asked me several times, but I was refusing to date anyone, even though I liked him, then after a couple months I told him I wanted to date him.

8. Has this person ever purposed to you? Yes, he took me on a picnic, it was still really cold that spring in Logan, so we ate in the car. Then we walked around Richmond park and swung on the swings, and while I was swinging he knelt down and proposed.

9. Do you and this person have kids together? 1 kid, Johnny, he's almost 14 months.

10. Have you ever broken the law with this person? Yeah, but dumb laws, like speeding, j-walking, stuff you don't really realize you're doing wrong.

11. When was the first time you realized you liked this person? The first time I met him, I thought he was really cute and sweet.

12. Do you get along with his family? I think so. He's got a big family and each one of them is so fun in their own way.

13. Do you trust this person? Yes, except when he gets that look and I know he's got some crazy idea he's coming up with. (J/K honey!)

14. Do you see him as your partner in the future? Forever and ever.

15. What is the best gift he gave you? There are so many I couldn't pick just one. Probably just all the little sacrifices he makes for his family, and to be a father.

16. What is one thing he does that gets on your nerves? Doesn't put things away, but that's just something small, it could be worse.

17. Where do you see each other 15 years from now? Hopefully having a decent-size family, in a house that's a good size for us, him working his dream job, and things going well.

18. What causes the most arguments? Stupid things, miscommunications, or conflicts about what we want to do with things.

19. How long have you been together? Just over 3 years.

20. Are you married? Yes, 2 1/2 years.

21. Who do you tag? Katie, Nikki, Rachel, Charity, and Jefrilyn.

Cute Pics...

I was bored the other day before our ward Christmas party, so I took some fun pictures of Johnny in his Christmas sweater. He didn't want to cooperate at first, but I started acting like the camera was attacking me and I got some really cute ones.

Our Weekend!

So, I was dumb and totally forgot to take any pictures over Thanksgiving and the weekend, I've really been slacking and am going to work harder. We went to my parents for Thanksgiving, Johnny got to hang out with Ben and Charity's kids that day, and spent the whole time trying to show them the dogs. That's pretty much all he did the whole time was chase Nana's dogs and boss them around. Davie had to work Friday, so I stayed at my moms with Johnny and got a lot of Christmas shopping done. On Saturday we went to Salt Lake to visit Davie's family, Johnny had lots of fun trying to say everyone's names, and running around with his aunts and uncles. On Sunday we went to temple square to see the lights, Johnny thought they were pretty cool, we had to head back early though since Davie had school and work the next morning. It was a fun little break and it was nice to spend some time with both of our families and for Johnny to get to see them and to know them a little better. We'll be better about pictures and take some soon, oh, and I chopped my hair off! I'll take a pic and post it when I can.

New Words

Johnny has a few new words and sayings he's picked up lately. He can say "Grandpa", "Icky" (aka Emily), and "Stephen". "Paul", "GG" (that's grandma Graves), "noodles", "broom", "mop", "zoo", "pumpkin", "kitty", "Jason" (a kid I babysit twice a week), and "Santa"! We've been trying to teach him all the names of our family members, but there are a lot so it will take a while. It's so cute to hear him saying things in his small little voice, it's especially cute when he knows what he's talking about.

Birthday at Nana's

On Sunday we went to visit my family so they could see Johnny for his birthday too. He spent most of the time there following "Nana" around and telling her dogs what to do. He loves telling them "don't" and to "sit". I think he thinks he's the boss of them. Before heading home Sunday we sang to Johnny and he opened presents.
He at least tried to blow out the candle this time, but not enough to get the job done.

He also did a little better unwrapping gifts, but he wanted to play with each thing instead of opening the next gift.

Emily gave him a really cute mop and broom set since he's always trying to use mine, it's so cute, he's been cleaning my kitchen nonstop since we got home.

Happy First Birthday!!!

Johnny turned one on Sunday, November 2. It's so crazy that a whole year has already gone by, it seems like just yesterday I was coming home from the hospital, or he was trying to roll over. Some of Johnny's big accomplishments this last year are and have been: rolling, crawling, sitting up, saying ma ma and da da, walking, talking, obeying his parents, learning to eat solid foods, helping clean the kitchen, and most recently bossing nana's dogs around. Here's a picture of him from each month up til now.
This was taken in the hospital a few hours after he was born.

A couple days after coming home.

12 Months, this morning with banana all over his face.... We're so happy that we have Johnny, our lives have been so much better since he was born, it's so fun being a mom and seeing your kid learn something new every day.

Happy Halloween!!!

Johnny didn't quite understand Halloween this year, but he looked so cute in his costume and he got to do a lot of fun stuff. The day before Halloween, Davie's work had an indoor Trick or Treating party for the kids. Johnny loves going to see his Daddy at work so he was way excited about that, and he liked looking at all the other kids costumes. He had a pumpkin trick or treat bucket, which he loves, he thinks it's a toy.
Johnny wouldn't sit still for any pictures, so they're a little blurry and he's walking away in this one. But you get the idea, he looked so cute in his costume.

On Halloween Davie got off work early and we went down to Salt Lake to spend time with his family and to have a birthday party for Johnny. Jefrilyn made us a really good dinner and planned a fun party for Johnny. We all went Trick or Treating together and then went back to her place to sing Happu Birthday and open presents. Johnny had no idea what to do with the candle, it was cute, so we blew it out for him. And when it was time for presents it took a while to convince him to tear the paper off. He really likes all his gifts though and liked it when everyone sang to him.

Lazy...

I have been really lazy about blogging lately, so I'll try to catch everything up in a couple posts. Things have been good, but very busy lately. We've been trying to find a house before the end of the year, and it's a lot harder than you would think, we've found a couple maybe's, but we'd either have to have a smaller kitchen than we'd like, or live 15 min outside of town in the boonies. We're going to pray about it and see what seems the best for us.

Like everyone one else in Logan we went to the Pumpkin Walk last week. Johnny thought it was really cool and wanted to touch all the pumkins. He really liked the Noah's Ark display, he loves animals right now.
With everything going on with the election lately I thought that these two displays were funny. Their heads are really made out of pumpkins, so they did a good job.

On another political note.....I usually try to stay out of it, but for those who haven't heard, the democratic party released an ad this morning bashing mormons, particularly missionaries. It shows to mormon missionaries going into someones home who happens to be a lesbian and tying her up and saying " we're from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and we're here to take your rights away". Please take this into consideration when voting today, even if the the person you're voting for didn't make this ad, remember, their party may have and they haven't said anything to distance themselves from it or to speak out against it.

The Zoo!!!

This past weekend we were in Salt Lake for my best friend's wedding, on saturday we had some free time and we decided to take Johnny to the zoo. Aunt Kaycie and Joneale, and Uncle Joey came too. Johnny loved it, he was so excited about all of the animals and was trying to make all the animal noises. He especially loved the monkeys, he got so excited every time we saw one. The giraffes were also fun for him, he loved their long tongues.

He wouldn't look at the camera because there were monkeys.

The giraffes were so close, it was really cool.

You can't see it too well, but there was a leopard right next to him on the other side of the glass.

He actually just liked the water here....

Sleeping through dinner

On Monday I was fixing dinner and turned around to give Johnny his and found him fast asleep in his highchair, poor kid, I guess I didn't make him nap long enough that day. He slept through all of dinner.

Using the potty!!!

I'm sorry if this post bothers or grosses anyone out, but I was so excited I had to share. A week or two ago we bought Johnny a little potty to practice using, we know he's a little young but we thought the sooner we get him used to the idea, the better. So, we've randomly set him on it now and then and he smiles and has had no idea what to do. I've noticed that we usually need a diaper change pretty bad after lunch, so after he ate today I set him on it. He sat there for a while and just smiled, then he started to get up, I tried to put him back on and he shook his head at me and said "done, done". I still tried to put him back on and told him to just try, but I looked in and he was right....he had gone on the potty!!! (A lot) He did both things and knew he was done, it was so cute! I couldn't believe it, I'm sure it'll take a lot longer for him to always do that, but at least it's a start, he was so proud of himself. He kept clapping and saying "I did it, I did it". I took a couple pictures of him next to his potty....don't worry, they're clean! And again, I'm sorry if I grossed anyone out, I'm just so proud of him.

Just a Bunch of Updates....

We went to Bear Lake a few weeks ago with some of our friends and forgot to post about it. Johnny loved playing in the water until his naptime, then he got really cranky so we had to leave a bit early to let him sleep. Davie and I thought we would be cool and tan, and ended up with the worst sunburns we ever had. It was awful, we were both in so much pain and peeling everywhere, seriously I just barely stopped peeling. (Sorry to gross people out) Anyways, we've decided it is not worth it just to have a tan, so we're never getting sunburnt again! We had a lot of fun though and it was nice to go swimming one last time before the end of summer.

We had to keep the binky in Johnny's mouth at all times because he kept eating the sand.

School's started back up, which means Davie is up early each morning and heading to school and then straight to work, it stinks because we see him less, but we know it's worth it to get finished with school.

Our ward switched to the nine thirty block, which we were hoping would be an easier time with Johnny and his nap schedule, it's not though. It was really hard the first week, he cried a lot, and got really rowdy in Relief Society and had to sit in the hall. We're hoping we can switch him down to one nap a day so that church isn't so hectic, and we're really trying to teach him that church is a time to be reverant, kind of a hard thing to teach a ten month old, but you got to start sometime.

Also, I am starting work this week......and it's a job where I can take Johnny. I'm going to be watching some kids that I nannied when I was going to school before Davie and I were married. It's only 2 mornings a week, but it'll help out a little bit and give Johnny the chance to be around kids more often, I'm really excited about it, I think it'll be really good for him.

Johnny is walking really well now and goes so fast he's practically running, we've decided the next thing we want to teach him is to use the toilet......doubt it'll happen any time soon, but we're setting him on it every once in a while to get him used to the idea. Also, he is very obsessed with dogs right now. Davie went down to the BYU game last weekend and I went to my mom's during the day, well she has 3 very noisy dogs and Johnny thinks it's so cool. He started calling my mom Nana, and he walks around saying " Nana, dogs, woof woof". It is so funny, he barks all the time and talks about dogs all the time. He looks for pictures of dogs in his books, keeps wanting to watch 101 Dalmations, and whenever we talk about "Nana", he says "Dogs, woof woof". So I guess she's the dog grandma now, and that's what he associates with her.

Other than "dog", and "woof woof", Johnny has learned some new things lately. He knows where his nose, belly, toes, ears, eyes, tongue, and hair are, and shows us all the time. He's starting to figure out how to actually call people on our phones, he can turn lights on and off, recognizes "MaMa" and "DaDa" in pictures, and has a favorite food.....cantelope. This is such a fun age, it's so neat to see his face light up when he learns something new and understands it. It's also nice that he can communicate a bit better with us.

Blogger Problems!!!

So, you're all probably wondering why our blog shows that everything was written this month, and why all of our pictures and video's have disappeared....well, I was stupid and tried to get a new background from a site and it totally reset our blog, and made it impossible to change our blog at all. So, I opened a new blog, and after a lot of copying and pasting we have most of our stuff back. It's going to take a lot longer however to get the pictures and video's put back on. Also all comments people have made were lost. We appreciate your comments and will miss having them on our past posts.

Clapping, belly buttons, etc.

I swear, once you think your kids are as cute as they can get, they go and do something that makes them even cuter! Johnny has started clapping all the time, he walks across the room and stops and claps for himself and says "YAY".......it's so funny, he claps for us too when we do stuff but mostly for himself. Then I was getting him dressed this morning and pointed out his belly button to him, this afternoon I said something about tickling his belly button and he pointed at it and said "belly", and then clapped for himself. It's so funny to watch how proud he gets of himself. So, he's obviously learning a lot of new words, our favorite from today was when Johnny got into the diapers and tried to eat them, Davie took them away and pointed his finger at Johnny and said "NO", (he's been working on being more serious so Johnny doesn't just think he's being funny and do it again), well Johnny looked at Davie and pointed his finger in Davie's face and said "NO", just like Davie had done, and then clapped for himself again. I know this could mean trouble but it was so funny we both burst into laughter. It's so funny how much he copies us now, we're being really careful what we say and do in front of him.So, to sum up, Johnny's newest accomplishments are......walking all the time, clapping for himself, turning the tv on and off, changing channels w/ the remote, eating finger foods, and saying...."yay, no, belly, pretty, nana, and out".

Walking!!!

So, we were goofing off with Johnny this morning, and he started walking.....literally. We have walked him around with him holding our hands and have tried letting go but he usually just sits down. Today he walked all the way across our livingroom!!! It was so crazy, and he wants to do it, I tried holding his hand later and he tried to push me away.....So, I guess now we have a walker! He does fall a lot, but he doesn't stop trying. Here's a video, he's not going as far as he did this morning, but you can get the picture......

Just Plain Cute

This post doesn't really have an explanation...I was just goofing off with Johnny the other day while making dinner and he started laughing really hard and I got some really cute pictures. He's just got a great personality and sense of humor, he always keeps us smiling.
