Sleeping through dinner

On Monday I was fixing dinner and turned around to give Johnny his and found him fast asleep in his highchair, poor kid, I guess I didn't make him nap long enough that day. He slept through all of dinner.

Using the potty!!!

I'm sorry if this post bothers or grosses anyone out, but I was so excited I had to share. A week or two ago we bought Johnny a little potty to practice using, we know he's a little young but we thought the sooner we get him used to the idea, the better. So, we've randomly set him on it now and then and he smiles and has had no idea what to do. I've noticed that we usually need a diaper change pretty bad after lunch, so after he ate today I set him on it. He sat there for a while and just smiled, then he started to get up, I tried to put him back on and he shook his head at me and said "done, done". I still tried to put him back on and told him to just try, but I looked in and he was right....he had gone on the potty!!! (A lot) He did both things and knew he was done, it was so cute! I couldn't believe it, I'm sure it'll take a lot longer for him to always do that, but at least it's a start, he was so proud of himself. He kept clapping and saying "I did it, I did it". I took a couple pictures of him next to his potty....don't worry, they're clean! And again, I'm sorry if I grossed anyone out, I'm just so proud of him.

Just a Bunch of Updates....

We went to Bear Lake a few weeks ago with some of our friends and forgot to post about it. Johnny loved playing in the water until his naptime, then he got really cranky so we had to leave a bit early to let him sleep. Davie and I thought we would be cool and tan, and ended up with the worst sunburns we ever had. It was awful, we were both in so much pain and peeling everywhere, seriously I just barely stopped peeling. (Sorry to gross people out) Anyways, we've decided it is not worth it just to have a tan, so we're never getting sunburnt again! We had a lot of fun though and it was nice to go swimming one last time before the end of summer.

We had to keep the binky in Johnny's mouth at all times because he kept eating the sand.

School's started back up, which means Davie is up early each morning and heading to school and then straight to work, it stinks because we see him less, but we know it's worth it to get finished with school.

Our ward switched to the nine thirty block, which we were hoping would be an easier time with Johnny and his nap schedule, it's not though. It was really hard the first week, he cried a lot, and got really rowdy in Relief Society and had to sit in the hall. We're hoping we can switch him down to one nap a day so that church isn't so hectic, and we're really trying to teach him that church is a time to be reverant, kind of a hard thing to teach a ten month old, but you got to start sometime.

Also, I am starting work this week......and it's a job where I can take Johnny. I'm going to be watching some kids that I nannied when I was going to school before Davie and I were married. It's only 2 mornings a week, but it'll help out a little bit and give Johnny the chance to be around kids more often, I'm really excited about it, I think it'll be really good for him.

Johnny is walking really well now and goes so fast he's practically running, we've decided the next thing we want to teach him is to use the toilet......doubt it'll happen any time soon, but we're setting him on it every once in a while to get him used to the idea. Also, he is very obsessed with dogs right now. Davie went down to the BYU game last weekend and I went to my mom's during the day, well she has 3 very noisy dogs and Johnny thinks it's so cool. He started calling my mom Nana, and he walks around saying " Nana, dogs, woof woof". It is so funny, he barks all the time and talks about dogs all the time. He looks for pictures of dogs in his books, keeps wanting to watch 101 Dalmations, and whenever we talk about "Nana", he says "Dogs, woof woof". So I guess she's the dog grandma now, and that's what he associates with her.

Other than "dog", and "woof woof", Johnny has learned some new things lately. He knows where his nose, belly, toes, ears, eyes, tongue, and hair are, and shows us all the time. He's starting to figure out how to actually call people on our phones, he can turn lights on and off, recognizes "MaMa" and "DaDa" in pictures, and has a favorite food.....cantelope. This is such a fun age, it's so neat to see his face light up when he learns something new and understands it. It's also nice that he can communicate a bit better with us.

Blogger Problems!!!

So, you're all probably wondering why our blog shows that everything was written this month, and why all of our pictures and video's have disappeared....well, I was stupid and tried to get a new background from a site and it totally reset our blog, and made it impossible to change our blog at all. So, I opened a new blog, and after a lot of copying and pasting we have most of our stuff back. It's going to take a lot longer however to get the pictures and video's put back on. Also all comments people have made were lost. We appreciate your comments and will miss having them on our past posts.

Clapping, belly buttons, etc.

I swear, once you think your kids are as cute as they can get, they go and do something that makes them even cuter! Johnny has started clapping all the time, he walks across the room and stops and claps for himself and says "YAY".......it's so funny, he claps for us too when we do stuff but mostly for himself. Then I was getting him dressed this morning and pointed out his belly button to him, this afternoon I said something about tickling his belly button and he pointed at it and said "belly", and then clapped for himself. It's so funny to watch how proud he gets of himself. So, he's obviously learning a lot of new words, our favorite from today was when Johnny got into the diapers and tried to eat them, Davie took them away and pointed his finger at Johnny and said "NO", (he's been working on being more serious so Johnny doesn't just think he's being funny and do it again), well Johnny looked at Davie and pointed his finger in Davie's face and said "NO", just like Davie had done, and then clapped for himself again. I know this could mean trouble but it was so funny we both burst into laughter. It's so funny how much he copies us now, we're being really careful what we say and do in front of him.So, to sum up, Johnny's newest accomplishments are......walking all the time, clapping for himself, turning the tv on and off, changing channels w/ the remote, eating finger foods, and saying...."yay, no, belly, pretty, nana, and out".

Walking!!!

So, we were goofing off with Johnny this morning, and he started walking.....literally. We have walked him around with him holding our hands and have tried letting go but he usually just sits down. Today he walked all the way across our livingroom!!! It was so crazy, and he wants to do it, I tried holding his hand later and he tried to push me away.....So, I guess now we have a walker! He does fall a lot, but he doesn't stop trying. Here's a video, he's not going as far as he did this morning, but you can get the picture......

Just Plain Cute

This post doesn't really have an explanation...I was just goofing off with Johnny the other day while making dinner and he started laughing really hard and I got some really cute pictures. He's just got a great personality and sense of humor, he always keeps us smiling.

Sleeping through church and driving cars!!!

Our church is at one which is really hard because it overlaps Johnny's big nap of the day. Usually he makes it through ok and takes a small nap during sacrament meeting, a couple weeks ago he couldn't handle it and fell asleep on the floor. It was so cute! He slept through all of Relief Society and most of Sunday School. I love how he spreads his arms out all wide in his sleep, we're switching to the 9:30 block soon, so hopefully that'll solve the nap issues on Sundays. We went shopping at a different grocery store than usual the other day and they have the kids shopping carts with the car attachments that they can pretend to drive....and Johnny loved it. He was having so much fun in it, he kept bouncing up and down like he was on a ride. He would actually steer the little car when I turned corners in the store. I'm going to try and shop there more often so that he can have some fun with those, he was so good at the store that day!

New Hair

Ok, so I found a picture of my hair this morning. It was taken on my phone so it won't be the best quality but you can see what I did to it. I'm told I look better with the blonde in my hair, but I'm not sure which way I like it best so let me know what you think.... I think I like the length now because it is so much easier to style and hardly takes any time at all. I might be brave and go a little bit shorter in a couple months, I always said I wouldn't cut my hair off when I had kids, but it's so worth it, it's just too hard to have long hair when you've got a baby.

Busy Busy

Sorry haven't blogged in forever. Things have been pretty busy for us. Davie finished up summer school a couple weeks ago and has a short break before fall semester starts. It's going to be hard again but school's worth it.Johnny has learned so many new things lately. He pulls himself up on everything and is trying to walk!!! A couple weeks and I think he'll be able to do it. In some ways I'm looking forward to it, but I'm also nervous about it cause he's so fast already. He gives kisses all the time now, which is tonz of fun. He's got such a great personality. Also, last saturday I did something very brave....I chopped my hair! I've been thinking about it for a while and finally just went for it. I cut off 8 1/2 inches, and put blonde back in. It's a bit more blonde than I was expecting but I think I like it, it's a fun change. I was kind of shocked about the hair at first too, but it's so much easier to style and Johnny doesn't pull it nearly as much, which is great. I'll put pictures on as soon as I get some.

Getting Into Trouble

Johnny is really testing his boundaries lately. Last night Davie turned around to put a dvd in and turned back around and Johnny was gone! In the time it took Davie to put the movie in, Johnny had climbed halfway up the stairs! Scared me to death. I am not ready for him to be going up the stairs, we're going to be finding some gates as soon as possible. We have seen him go up the first stair before, but he's never made it up further on his own, we're paying extra attention now! Also a couple days ago I put Johnny down for his morning nap, and he usually goes right to sleep. This day though he whined for a long time; after a while he stopped and started saying something. When I got closer to his room I heard him saying " Ma Ma, Ma Ma, I did it! I did it Ma ma!" He only says "I did it" when he's really done something and he's proud of himself. I wasn't sure what he could've done in his crib so I hurried in there. He had pooped everywhere! It was all over him, all over his sheets and blanket, and all over the crib. He just stood there and smiled and kept saying " I did it!". Poor kid, he had no idea how gross it was. I just had to laugh, I considered taking a picture, but decided it was too gross and I don't want to offend anyone more than I am already by telling this story.Even though being a mom is always full of suprises I can't help laughing about it. Johnny's got such a cute personality it's hard to be upset when I probably should be.

More Cousins

The day after the family reunion we had a big family dinner with Davie's family. Our sister in law Michelle was up from Las Vegas with her girls Miriam and Liberty. Liberty and Johnny are only a month and a half apart so it's really cute watching them play together. Liam also got to play with them, he's a lot younger though, so we're hoping they didn't scare him too bad.....
Liam is catching up! He's getting so big and starting to get a personality. I can't wait til he can join in and play with Johnny and Liberty.

Graves Family Reunion

On the 5th we had a family reunion with Davie's family, we went up to a campsite in Cottonwood Canyon for the day. It was lots of fun to see everyone, especially people we don't get to see very often. I ended up hanging out with Davie's cousin Sarah most of the day, and her little boy Devin. Johnny and Devin had a ton of fun playing together, they're just a couple months apart so it was way cute watching them sharing their toys and food with eachother. Johnny and Devin were so cute playing together, but we couldn't get them to hold still for pics. Johnny cuddling with cousin Noel. You can't tell, but his hat says " Future BYU Cougar", Daddy loves this hat!

The 4th

This was the first 4th of July that we've spent in Utah since we got married! It was a lot of fun, it was fun seeing how excited Johnny got about things. We got up and went to the parade in the morning and Johnny thought that part was cool because he got to help Davie pick up candy.
Here he is pointing at the candy he picked up, he didn't know why he was picking it up but he was pretty proud of himself.
Showing off his cute smile after the parade ended.
We went up to Huntsville with my family for the rest of the day and had a picnic and went swimming at Pineview. It was tons of fun, Johnny loved swimming in the lake and we got to use my parents blow up boat!
Johnny loved playing in the sand with Aunt Emily! I have no idea what this face was, but I love it. Emily and I hanging out at the beach, yes I look wierd....
Playin with his Daddy!Uncle Stephen helped feed Johnny in our "highchair", we had to make do with what we had there. Davie and I relaxing on the beach.Hanging out with Grandpa! We went straight from Huntsville down to the Clearfield fireworks, they were really good this year. Poor Johnny was so tired from everything we did during the day that he slept through the fireworks. The noise didn't phase him a bit....so these pictures are for Johnny so he can see his first fireworks!!

Fun New Things

Now that Johnny is a bit older we've been able to go out more and do fun things with him. We've discovered that he loves swimming. We've gone 3 times with him now and he hates it when it's time to get out of the pool. It's so cute how he plays in the water, he rides in a baby floatie and splashes us. Sometimes we hold him in the water and he kicks his legs really hard to go where he wants. We were at my sister in law, Jefrilyns house a couple weeks ago and noticed that Johnny likes trying to walk with one of those walkers you stand and hold onto and then push it. We found a nice one at the D.I. a few days later and he's been loving that too. He likes to have it in the sitting position right now though and to try and ride it. Johnny thought it was really fun to sit and ride in the laundry basket when I was doing laundry the other day, it was so cute, he held on really tight while I pulled him around the livingroom and kept laughing really hard. I was trying to nurse Johnny for as long as I could and was hoping to make it to a year without starting solids. He started wanting to eat more and more though and was acting hungrier all the time. So, I started giving him bananas in the mornings and peas in the evenings and that seems to make a big difference. He still nurses, it's just not taking so much out of me now and he's getting the extra food he needs. He loves the peas and says "mmm, mmm" the whole time he eats them. He got banana all over his forhead in this picture and I thought it was so cute.

Antelope Island

Right after Johnny got his new teeth we went camping at Antelope Island with Davie's family. It was kind of hard because I woke up sick that morning and Johnny was really awnry at first. It ended up being lots of fun though and the next morning Johnny was in a really good mood and was playing with everyone. He thought it was so cool that Grandpa was letting him drink out of a water bottle! It was Johnny's first time camping and even though he was awnry at first I think he did pretty well. We got some cute pictures of him in the morning when he was happy, and there weren't so many bugs biting at him in the morning so I think that helped his mood a ton!

First Teeth

A couple weeks ago Johnny got his first teeth. I would say tooth, but he had his bottom two come in at the same time! He wasn't too fussy while they were coming in, but for a couple days after he was pretty emotional. He looks so cute with them and has already been biting with them, we don't like that part.
You can't see them too well here, this was right when they came in.
You can see them a lot better in these pictures!

Ma Ma!!!

Alright, so Johnny has been saying "Da Da" for a couple months now.....well, it's my turn! About two days ago he wanted me and yelled "Ma Ma", at first I thought it was a fluke, but when I laid him down for his nap he crawled to the part of the crib closest to the door and cried and kept yelling "Ma Ma" until he fell asleep. It's so cute! He's done it a lot the last couple days and I'm so excited that he can finally say it. He says a few things now so I was getting impatient for him to call for me. (Some of his other words are: "hi", "bye", "duck", "yeah", and it sounds like he says "I did it!")

25 Years Old

Monday was Davie's 25th birthday! He had to work overtime on his birthday, so that wasn't much fun, but we had a little party for him when he got off. I actually made a cake this year, and I actually took pictures....yay. Davie got the Indiana Jones trilogy, some new sandals, Sleeping Beauty (his favorite Disney...?), and Johnny gave him son Ghirradeli chocolate. He seemed very excited about all of his gifts. I attempted to make the cake look nice.
First b-day present from his son!

New Nephew

Davie's sister Jefrilyn had her baby last Monday, and we got to see him while in Salt Lake this last weekend. His name is William (Liam), and he is so cute. He and Johnny are just under seven months apart, so we're really excited for them to play together as they're growing up. This is Johnny's ninth cousin, and three of them are less than a year apart from

Memorial Day Weekend

We spent Memorial Day weekend in Salt Lake with Davie's family this year. It was really fun to see everyone and hang out. Johnny gets nervous around lots of people, so we were a little nervous about how he'd be, but he was really good and decided he was brave enough to play with everyone. He was very attached to his binky, but it helped keep him calm.
Johnny with his Aunt Luci. Hanging out in Grandpa and Grandma's yard.
Playing with Uncle Aaron.

2 Year Anniversary

Today is our 2 year anniversary! It's hard to believe it's been 2 years and we already have a 6 month old baby. Davie suprised me with this perfume that I love, which I'm way excited about! Davie works so hard and never takes time for himself and hardly ever buys things for himself so I wanted to get him something he'd really like, so this year I got Davie a season pass for BYU football. I'm not showing these pictures to brag, but those who know me well know that I'm awful at scrapbooking and crafts, so I'm very proud of myself for making

Our Little Pianist

Johnny has a little baby piano toy that he loves to play with and Davie got it on video this morning. He's sitting up really well now, so check it out!

Swimsuit

I was at Old Navy the other day and they have the cutest swim trunks for baby boys. I got him a pair, they are so adorable! It hasn't been warm enough to play outside in the water so Davie and Johnny played in the tub in their swim trunks the other day. It was so cute, Johnny loved the squirt gun and wouldn't let go of

Highchair

We decided it's time to get a highchair for Johnny. We need a place for him to sit while we eat dinner, and he'll be starting solid foods in the next few months. He hasn't eaten anything in it yet but he has had a blast playing in it this morning, he actually smiled and laughed for the camera when I took these....

Waving

At church a couple weeks ago we told Johnny to say hi to his friend Carson and he waved at him. It was the most random thing because we hadn't worked with him on waving yet. So over the last couple weeks we've been working with him and whenever you tell him to say hi he waves....it's so cute! Also yesterday he started saying "dada", he loves it and laughs at himself after saying it. It's crazy how fast he's growing up and all the things he's learning to do now.

Not Napping

Johnny was really hyper the other day and wouldn't take his nap, I got these two pictures of him laughing and he was so cute I ended up just playing with him and giving up on a nap that day.

Easter!!!

We didn't do much for Easter this year since Johnny is so young. But we thought it would be fun to dye eggs and Johnny likes bright colors so he did have fun with that part. Mostly Davie and I had fun though.
Johnny didn't know what to do with them....
We were goofing off taking funny pictures when we were done, but Davie liked this one....
I thought this one turned out really cute!

Walker

We got a walker toy for Johnny last week since we have an actual kitchen in our new place and he loves trying to stand right now. He's so cute in it...he loves the little toys on it and can walk backwards but not forwards, I'm sure he'll figure it out soon though.

4 1/2 Months Old.

A lot has happened in the past couple weeks. We had some problems with our neighbors smoking in the apartment and it was coming into Johnny's room really bad so we found a new place and moved last week. We are still in Logan, just in a better neighborhood and a better apartment. We have a lot more space here and an actual kitchen! (Our old place didn't really have one, it was about 5 feet long.....) So things are going well and we love our new place.Johnny is 4 1/2 months old now and is getting so big. He weighs 18 pounds and is about 26 1/2 inches long; and he is wearing 9 month clothes......crazy!!! He's so much fun though, he really has a personality now. He is rolling all over the place, can almost sit up, and is trying really hard to crawl. We have to watch him way close now, you turn around for a second and he's on the other side of the room! He is very interested in his toys now, especially cups, he loves putting them over his mouth and making funny noises.
He was making really wierd faces at us last week.....
This last Sunday we went to Salt Lake to visit with Davie's family and Johnny got to play with his cousin Liberty, they were so cute together and shared toys with eachother. You can tell that they're related, they look so much a like, it's so cute!
Liberty and Johnny
Johnny in his cute Sunday clothes.

Funny Kid.

Johnny is growing up so fast.....he turned 4 months yesterday and is already wearing 6-9 month clothing. It's crazy, we can't keep up with him. He's so much fun though and has such a personality now. We got him a playmat last weekend to get him using his legs and reaching up a bit more. He loves it but has outsmarted us, instead of reaching for the toys he wraps his legs around the pole and pulls it down on himself so the toys are right by him. It's so funny, he does it everytime we lay him down there. I guess it did teach him something though, even if it's not quite what we were hoping he'd do with it.

Cute Pics.

We had some friends over a couple weeks ago and they took some cute pictures of us with Johnny, I just got copies of them but I think they turned out pretty cute.

Snowy Day

It was a blizzard here on Sunday and the snow was way deep. We decided to bundle Johnny up in his snowsuit and let him see the snow for a couple minutes. I don't think he liked it too much, he kept making mad faces at it and got upset when the snowflakes would fly into his eyes.

We laid him in a snow pile to see what he'd think.

Davie took a picture of me and Johnny in the snow, I'm still in my pj's.
So far Johnny doesn't seem to like the snow, but he looked so cute in his snow suit!!!

Playing with toys!!!

Johnny used to be obsessed with tv and that kind of worried us. Lately though, he's shown more of an interest in his toys and trying to roll over instead. He loves having a toy in each hand and one in his mouth right now. His favorites are his rings, rattle, and jittery pals.

Here's Johnny playing with his rings and rattle.

He loves chewing on this jitterbug.
He didn't want me to take him away from his toys the other day and

Blessing Day!

Johnny was blessed on December 23, 2007 in Salt Lake at Davie's family's ward. We decided to have the blessing the sunday before Christmas since most of our family would be in town. It was a really fun day, the blessing was really special and he was so good during it. After church we all went to the Graves home for a lunch and to take some family pictures.
This is the Graves side of the family, it's big and we love it!
Here's the Moore side, and we're making it bigger!
Later that evening we had our "grown up" family party for the Graves side of the family.
I'll post some close ups of Johnny in his blessing outfit, I haven't had them sent to me yet.....

Christmas!

This year we spent Christmas day with the Moores. Ben and Charity and their kids were there also so it was a pretty full house. It was fun having all the kids together even though Johnny didn't really understand what was going on. He did get excited about a few of his presents though and even smiled at them. He loves looking at books and was happy to see some new ones. This is us just hanging out with the family on Christmas Eve.On Christmas morning we were all pretty tired from staying up too late, but we still followed tradition and were up before 6 in the morning. It was too early! We had a lot of fun even though it was early and it was so neat having our first Christmas with our son.

Johnny, November 2, 2007

Since we just started our blog a few days ago I thought it'd be fun to go back and add things from holidays and when Johnny was born. My due date with Johnny was actually Oct 28, but that day came and went and he still wasn't ready to come. On Nov 1 I had a doctors appointment and he decided to go ahead and induce me since I was almost 5 days late and nothing was really happening. So I went to the hospital about an hour after my appointment and at about 1:00 p.m. they started me on petocin. They kept having to turn the petocin up because my body still wasn't making any progress. Finally, after being there a few hours, the doctor came and broke my water, and that's when things got going. I got an epidural because the contractions actually started hurting pretty bad, and then I went from a 5 to a 10 in about half an hour. So around 1:00 a.m. I started pushing and at about 1:45 Johnny was born (8 lbs 10 oz, 20 1/2"). He had lots of dark hair and was doing great.

This is Davie holding his son for the first time!

I could hardly breathe after I had him because it was so amazing, here's me holding Johnny for the first time. ( I know, I look really funny, but I just had a baby, I have an excuse.)

Having a baby was the most amazing experiance in my life so far, it's amazing how much you love them already when you first see them, we love being parents and are already looking forward to having more kids and making our family grow!
